Story Summary:
Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi are assigned to negotiations between the Tanthal Alliance and the Republic. When the treaty signing goes horribly wrong, it's up to the Jedi to rescue the delegation including a certain young Senator from Alderaan.

Warnings:
If you are uncomfortable with the idea that two guys might want to be more than just friends, this story is not for you! The romance in here is m/m. It's not explicit, but you might find liplock between guys at some point before the story is over.

Timeline:
I've yet to find an official date for Bail Organa's birth but the general assumption in the wider SW fandom seems to be that he was born around 60BE. Obi-Wan's date of birth is given as 57BE. Given the casting of Jimmy Smits in the role of Bail, I think of them as about 4 years apart. That makes Obi-wan 21 and this fic set four years before TPM.

Disclaimer Junk:
You know the drill. The SW universe, Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Bail Organa, and just about every other fantastic thing you can think of that has the SW label on it was either thought up or licensed by our friend Master George Lucas. In addition to taking his characters out for a stroll, reference is made to quite a few other canon/expanded universe characters in this fic. Bail's sister Celly is a canon character and info on her can be found in the expanded universe in COJ, HNN4, and JPL. Doman Beruss is an actual Republic Senator - in fact he's two or three of them. Apparently the family likes to name the first born son the same thing. There have, according to information I've found, been at least three men from the same family named Doman Beruss to hold a seat in the Senate. Bail is known to have been good friends with, at least, the youngest of them. Members of the Commerce Guild, Jedi Masters, and some mysterious cameo appearences by other rather well known SW figures abound and I won't mention them all here. Let's just say that if I've given someone a name you can probably look them up in the unofficial SW encyclopedia. I've also got to give Jude Watson and Dave Wolverton a nod for character cameos.

I've also lifted the planet of Rhen Var from the expanded universe. It's got quite an interesting history and you can find out more about it in TOJ:R published by Dark Horse Comics. If you aren't enough of a SW geek to know the abreviations just head for theforce.net.

Author's Notes:
While George has let us all know that Bail and Obi-Wan are friends durring the time of the Clone Wars, there's little to tell us how they met or what kind of relationship they had. I think he and Obi-Wan must have been very close for him to know where "Ben" was living, much less for Bail to end up raising Leia. As I like to slash as much as the next person, I think the two might have been a pair. Here's a possible start to a long and beautiful relationship.
